This year Early Worship will explore Lent using the theme, Lifted Up From the Earth (John 12:32) .
We will combine the experience of Lent with the honoring of Black History month. Each week we will listen to readings from Scripture, as well as prayers and readings by authors such as: Maya Angelou, Martin Luther King Jr., Howard Thurman, and Coretta Scott King. We will sing Spirituals and share our thoughts and prayers. There will be time to reflect and time to respond. As a community we will create an art project that will grow each week as our understanding deepens. Finally we will conclude each service by celebrating communion and renewing our commitment to “be lifted up”, and drawn closer to God.
Join us for this multi-generational, creative experience for 5 Sundays during Lent beginning on February 18th at 8:30AM in the Chapel. All ages are welcome; come as individuals, or families! Consider living Lent a new way this year and see what insights God may have in store for you!
