The RCA invites you to “Organizing as Faithful Witness,” a two-day experience in Holland, Michigan, exploring how your church can do kingdom work through community organizing.

Lisa Sharon Harper, the chief church engagement officer for Sojourners Magazine and author of “The Very Good Gospel”, will be the keynote speaker. She’s an expert on community organizing in the church and was recognized in 2014 by the Huffington Post as one of “50 Powerful Women Religious Leaders to Celebrate on International Women’s Day.”

From August 14 to 15, you’ll have three opportunities to delve into the topic of community organizing with Harper and other leaders.

  • 9:30 a.m., August 14: Harper speaks on “The Very Good Gospel” at Calvary Reformed Church.
  • 12:00 p.m., August 14: A panel discussion on shalom and creation at Pillar Church (RCA).
  • 5:30–9:00 p.m., August 15: In an event at Maple Avenue Ministries (RCA), Harper provides training and encourages congregations to collaborate on community organizing for the sake of God’s kingdom. Dinner is provided. You must register for this event to attend. Please also note that there is a $50 fee for attending, payable when you register or at the door.
