Thank you for the prayer support, financial support and gifts of supplies for my recent trip to Haiti to work for the Haiti Foundation Against Poverty. Your gifts enabled me to fill two suitcases with 99.5 pounds of needed supplies (just below the 50 pounds each limit) as well as a few pounds in my carry-on bag and some purchases made in country. My week was spent working with Dick Lenger of Grand Rapids and two of the HFAP staff, Wemby and Mark Joseph, in building sewing tables, shelves and a desk for the women’s sewing program and two other cabinets for use in Mallery and Frentz Neptune’s house, with the hope that Wemby and Mark Joseph will be able to do this work themselves in the future so that HFAP is more self-sufficient. During the week there were also women teaching new sewing products, a team of nurses providing medical check-ups and education, and a team providing Bibles to HFAP staff and students of the school they run, beds for a couple of homes, and sandwiches to the students at the school.
