The Neighborhood Connection partnership that’s begun with First United Methodist, Hope Church, St. Francis de Sales, Third Reformed Church, and Bank of Holland is getting traction. With leadership from Good Samaritan Ministries, we’re ready to identify candidates for the “Community Connector” position, an AmeriCorps volunteer (who receives a stipend and other benefits) who will facilitate communication, learning, and collaboration within the Northwest Neighbors community.

A strong candidate will live in the neighborhood or be willing to relocate and have these qualifications:

  • Interest in and passion for community building and community development
  • Compassion and respect for diverse backgrounds and perspectives, reflected in positive and accepting relationships
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship skills, with an emphasis on exploration and listening
  • Be at least 17 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent
For a complete position description, contact Judy Van Dyke at Good Samaritan Ministries or Kay Hubbard or Lois Maassen at Hope Church. Resumes will be accepted through December 16; the position start date is February 1, 2012.
If you live in or have connections to this neighborhood, which extends from Eighth Street to Thirteenth and from River to Harrison, consider forwarding this information to likely candidates!
