As members of the Worship Ministry discussed our plans for Lent, we considered how celebrating communion weekly might add to the richness of our understanding of communion, as well as enhance our experience of Lent. During the Sundays in Lent, several different communion liturgies were used, each representing different “tones” to communion. Theologically, liturgies can present “tones” ranging from a more somber focus on sacrifice and cross to the celebratory, freedom-embracing feel of resurrection delight.
