May 9 – “On Faith and Beauty” – Led by Jeff Chu: The Reformed tradition has sometimes been unfairly tarred as austere and negligent of beauty. Yet John Calvin described painting and sculpture as gifts of God, and wrote that all forms of beauty “bring delight to our hearts.” Jeff Chu will lead us in a conversation that engages Scripture and history, art and creation, exploring the purpose and meaning of beauty in the context of our Christian faith. Where do we find it? How do we pay attention to it? How can it form and reform us?
