On Wednesday, September 19, at 7 p.m., Bread for the World President Rev. David Beckmann will speak at Hope College’s Maas Auditorium, 264 Columbia Avenue.
Rev. Beckmann will describe how Bread for the World is working to create a Circle of Protection around funding for programs vital to the hungry in the U.S. and abroad. He’ll outline God’s call for Christians to advocate for justice and to respond to the reality of poverty in our world.
Under his leadership, Bread members’ persistent, bipartisan advocacy has helped push the U.S. government to triple funding for programs aiding developing countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Bread has also worked to double funding for U.S. nutrition programs, assisting millions of families in the U.S. who struggle to feed their children.
Rev. Beckmann is a World Food-prize laureate who worked at the World Bank for 15 years before joining Bread for the World. He holds degrees from Yale, Christ Seminary, and the London School of Economics.
