There are many good reasons to protect tropical forests. Here’s just one of them: Tropical forests provide oxygen for us to breathe, take CO2 out of the atmosphere and store much more carbon than temperate region forests. Losing such forests hampers the Earth’s ability to avoid the worst effects of climate change
