Médecins Sans Frontières, MSF or Doctors Without Borders, was founded to bring medical professionals together to not only provide aid in war zones, but to talk about what they saw. In spite of the risks, this group refused to watch in silence. They believed that silence could kill, making those that watched complicit in the atrocities. They hoped that by bringing abuses to light, they could help bring them to an end.

In recent months MSF has been living out this mission in Yemen in the face of increased bombings and heavy ground fighting. They have recently made the very difficult decision to close down some of their clinics to insure the safety of their staff but the need to provide quality medical care is only increasing, creating yet another major humanitarian crisis. The Board of Deacons has decided to designate the 2018 Christmas Offering to Doctors Without Borders for the ongoing work in and around Yemen. Gifts may be made at any time using the Christmas offering envelope or by noting “Christmas Offering” or “Doctors Without Borders” on the memo line of your check.
