On June 7, the Lakeshore Ethnic Diversity Alliance will host an event called Many Faces: a Community Forum on Islam, co-sponsored by Hope College and held at the Knickerbocker Theater at 7 p.m.
This program will promote discussion and understanding in light of increased discrimination and tension toward individuals of Islamic faith. The evening will begin with an educational presentation that sheds light on topics such as jihad, the “72 virgins” myth, Sharia law, and women’s rights. This will be followed by a short film named A Land Called Paradise, which dispels stereotypes about Muslim Americans. The evening will close with a panel of local Muslims sharing their experiences in our community and a question and answer session.
Hope Church is a “collaborating organization” supporting this presentation.
