The Creation Care Ministry is announcing that Hope Church has joined a composting pilot program offered by Republic Services. The goal is to divert as much material as possible from the traditional waste stream. Events which include food can now divert paper products and food waste to designated receptacles which are lined with compostable bags. Look for the compost container in the kitchen (with a sign on it listing what can be composted!) You will also find a recycling container with a yellow bag in it in the kitchen, with a sign about what sort of recyclables can go into it (more types of recyclables can go into the yellow bag container, whereas the small blue recycling containers around the church can only recycle paper and cardboard). Also please note that this is a pilot composting program, so Republic Services will be deciding in November whether to continue it.
