Kwanzaa Celebration: Sun, Dec 16, 4 pm to 7 pm. Includes gathering around Nguzo Saba, the 7 basic principles of traditional African values of family, community responsibility, commerce, and self-improvement: Umoja (unity); Kujichagulia (self-determination); Ujima (collective work and responsibility); Ujamaa (cooperative economics); Nia (purpose); Kuumba (creativity); and Imani (faith). Event will include West Michigan Jewels of Africa presenting African drumming, dancing, and cultural lessons. There will also be children’s activities, African fashion exhibition, local vendors. Dessert reception follow. At Hope College Maas Center, Columbia Ave at 11th St, Holland.
