Here’s an opportunity to learn more about Shakespeare Behind Bars, the recipient of proceeds from this year’s Think Hope event, scheduled for May 21.
The award-winning Shakespeare Behind Bars documentary will screen at the Park Theater at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2011. Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for students with an ID card. Following the screening, there will be a facilitated audience talk-back with a panel including Curt L. Tofteland, founder and producing director of Shakespeare Behind Bars; Michelle Bombe, costume designer for Shakespeare Behind Bars productions; Mary Berghuis, warden of Earnest C. Brooks Correctional Facility; Brian Vork, executive director 70×7 Life Recovery; and Larry DeClue, SBB alumni on parole from Kentucky now living and working in eastern Michigan.
The mission of Shakespeare Behind Bars is to offer theatrical encounters with personal and social issues to the incarcerated, allowing them to develop life skills that will ensure their successful reintegration into society.
