Alternative gifts give in all directions–to the person buying the gift, the person receiving the gift, and the people served by Heifer International. On your behalf, Heifer International provides food- and income-producing animals like pigs, bees, chicks, and heifers. Along with training, Heifer provides a female animal or starter flock to each family, and one or more male animals to the community. Veterinary services, extension advice, and organization support ensure lasting benefits–so your gift can change a whole community, which gains economic stability and sustainability.
You can get gift cards signifying your living gifts in the Gathering Area on Sundays, December 4, 11, and 18. Gifts range in cost from $20 (for ducks and chicks) or $30 (for bees) all the way to $150 (for a llama) or $250 (water buffalo), so you can find something for every hard-to-buy-for person on your gift list. And when else can you have a couple of flocks of chicks or ducks on hand as hostess gifts or for unexpected gift needs?
Community & World also has information on hand if you prefer to give alternative gifts through Water Missions International.
Happy holiday preparations!
