Since we shifted into our emergency response, every day we’ve served nearly 3 times the people and provided nearly 4 times the daily amount of food we were providing just a few weeks ago. Just since March 16, that’s 1,281 neighbors provided with take-home groceries from our pantry’s curbside delivery, sharing 30,702 meals worth of food to our neighbors in deepest need. This is a time of unprecedented change and challenge, and I’m proud and encouraged by how our staff, volunteers, and financial partners have all stepped up to adjust what we do, so we can provide the increased support this time calls for.

Right now, we need your help more than ever! I invite you all to join in one (or both!) of the below ways so we can sustain our service throughout these times:

To meet the growing need while following the ‘social distancing’ and other precautionary measures that our public health experts are so rightly urging, we invite you to help from home though our #StayHomeFightHunger effort. We need hundreds of our region’s families to step up to Pack Family Food Boxes at home so we can safely meet our most vulnerable neighbors’ food needs throughout this crisis. And for every family that joins and shares what they’re doing on social media, financial supporters have committed to matching that effort with a $45 financial contribution! Let’s get our entire community packing family food boxes for those in need, while unlocking the financial support we need to sustain our efforts! Click here to learn more, and consider making box packing a weekly tradition in your home throughout this crisis.

Financial support to our COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund is critical to ensure we can meet growing food needs. We’ve already made additional bulk purchases of food and meal packing supplies as we’ve modified our Food Pantry and Community Kitchen efforts, and we’re committed to continuing to provide the take-home food our struggling neighbors need as they weather this crisis. They need your help now more than ever – please join us by giving generously today. Click here to donate to this fund.

In these times, we recognize that we’re so much more together than apart. We know this at Community Action House, where we’re a platform for so many to come together in service, in times such as this. Our friends at Michigan Awesome are printing t-shirts stating “We’re all in this together” – purchase a shirt for yourself or others here. $10 from each shirt purchased will be directly donated to our efforts.
