Hope Church has a tradition of excellence in music based on scripture; we value worship over performance. We appreciate the traditional repertoire, and we are open to other forms that meet the spiritual and intellectual needs of our congregation. We readily sing our faith and favor music that enriches our Christian experience. Our Chancel Choir assists and enhances worship through anthems and responses. Together, we look to embrace a global vision in our selection of music, furthering our pioneering heritage; our music includes hymns, spirituals, classical, folk, orchestral, and music from sources like Taize, Iona communities, and emerging composers and communities.

There are many opportunities to participate beyond the pews!

Chancel Choir: The Chancel Choir sings every Sunday at the 11 a.m. service, September through May to provide leadership for worship with liturgical song and anthems. Music Director and Organist Rhonda Edgington welcomes singers from high school through adults in any section. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. and the choir also meets for warm-up and practice before the 11 a.m. service.

Jubilate Children’s Choir: It is always a joy to have the Jubilate Choir participate in worship at Hope Church. Young singers from preschool through 5th grade gather during special seasons of the church year to learn, and then perform during seasonal events. Parents can check the church calendar and other publications during those seasons for practice times and singing dates.

Carillon Bell Choir: The Carillon Bell Choir is fun, and provides good exercise for those working together to bring life to a musical piece. There are new techniques to learn, new music to sight-read, and the joy of participating in meaningful worship. Rhonda Edgington directs this group, which includes everyone from high schoolers, up to the more mature variety of ringers. The Carillon Bell Choir meets for practice on Wednesday evenings at 6 p.m.

Instrumentalists: Several times a year, instrumentalists are needed to accompany the Chancel Choir or participate in special services. We value the talents of our members and encourage musicians to share their skills in worship. If you’re interested, let Rhonda Edgington know about your talent!
