David Manville, ACSW & LMSU, who just finished teaching a course on human trafficking at Eastern Michigan University, will share International, U.S. and Michigan facts with his insights. Manville is a certified mediator and was employed as a family clinician and social-worker for Wayne County’s mediation and education unit.
A panel of area professionals will follow his presentation, commenting on local issues related to human trafficking in Michigan.
Lu Reyes, clinical social worker, has spent the last 6 of her 30 years experience here in Holland, working with trafficking victims and referring them to proper resources.
Jack Dykstra, captain of support services with the Holland Police Department, who has recently become involved with trafficking issues, and is a member of the newly formed Holland Human Trafficking Task Force.
Heather Hastedt, clinical supervisor for Holland Arbor Circle, which serves homeless, runaway, and at risk youth. Heather is also the chair of the HYC (Homeless Youth Council) of Ottawa County.
Andy Soper, Project Co-ordinator of The Manasseh Project, which provides a spectrum of services related to Human Trafficking including community awareness, professional education for First Responders, prevention programming for K-12 students, and advocacy services for minor victims of Commercial Sexual Exploitation.
