cookbooksDo you have a yen for old things or have a friend for whom a well loved cook book would make a good gift?  Here is your chance to obtain one!

A silent auction of old Hope Church cook books is now being held outside the church office. There are books from 1896, 1904, two from 1926, 1935, two from 1942, and 1977. Instructions such as, “shortening the size of an egg” or lack of instructions regarding pan size, oven temperature, or baking time in some of the recipes are interesting.

Bids started at $4.00 for each book and have already been increased by multiple bidders. Be sure to make your bid before the auction ends on Thanksgiving!

The Theil Archives in Holland has a copy of each cook book in the auction. The books were donated by Marty LaBarge and the proceeds from the auctions will go to the Hope Church Women’s Circles Fund.
