The Reconciliation Ministry encourages participation in these weekly Saturday vigils, organized by Lakeshore Women for Peace. From the organizers: “Dear friends of Stand for Peace, There are many reasons to Stand for Peace. Murders in massage salons and grocery stores, new laws to disenfranchise voters, embargos that are causing hunger and death, people standing to protect their sacred lands. Trials for former police officers concerning use of force leading to death. The list is endless and invokes a sense of hopelessness. That is why we hold a Vigil for Peace and Justice, and take an hour a week when we hold an open space for peace in our minds and hearts, and offer it to our community, our country, and the planet. Stand for Peace Michigan invites you to join us each Saturday at Centennial Park on River Ave. from 12—1:00 PM, beginning May 1. Come and stand or bring a chair to sit for peace and justice. Bring a sign or borrow one of ours. We wear masks and social distance. If you know of others who might be interested, please pass the information on to them, All are welcome.”
