You’ve no doubt noticed the lift in the parking lot and, during the week, the work underway repairing the brick and mortar in areas of our historic sanctuary. It’s methodical work, requiring the removal of materials that have been degraded by time and weather; damaged bricks are replaced by bricks salvaged from our construction project and stored for this purpose. The tuckpointing will continue around the exterior of the sanctuary through mid-November, weather permitting.

Following the exterior repairs, the work will move to the interior, including repairing plaster and repainting.

Also in mid-November, we’ll see evidence of the work underway to replace our bell and steeple. In addition to a significant amount of problem-solving engineering (thanks to Paul Elzinga for his commitment), structures and mechanisms will have been fabricated off-site. This project, like the structural repairs to the sanctuary, is weather-dependent; we’re hoping for good conditions to complete it by the end of the month.
