I was a stranger, and you welcomed me. Matthew 25:35b
If you’ve heard or read something about the refugee crisis and wondered, “What can I do?” we have an idea.
Bethany Christian Services is expecting many refugee families to arrive in West Michigan from countries such as Syria, Burma, Iraq, Cuba, Afghanistan, and African countries in the next several months. The United States has committed to resettling a percentage of the world’s many refugees, and Bethany works to connect arriving refugee families with churches as co-sponsors. Bethany has asked Hope Church to consider sponsoring a family that will be resettled in Holland later this year. This is a six-month commitment and includes a wide variety of activities—everything from greeting the family at the airport to donating goods for their new life and providing rides.
To learn more about this opportunity, please join us at 12:15 on Sunday, April 17, in Commons I. Deb Hoekwater from Bethany Christian Services will be here to explain the process and the many different ways we can help.
Note: A light lunch will be served. If you are planning to attend, please sign up in the gathering area by April 10 so we have an idea of how much food we will need.
