On May 22, Hope Church had its sixth annual silent auction and dinner. The recipient of proceeds this year was the Center for Women in Transition, chosen because we’ve heard from members of the board that domestic violence ticks up when people are in economic distress. It takes a while for the amount of our donation to be confirmed, because checks trickle in and event expenses need to be tabulated. But now we know: We’re able to support CWIT with $5,782.23.
The Think Hope event combines all kinds of gifts from the Hope Church community: artists and craftspeople and bakers and gardeners [and more] who donate items to the auction, youth who explore their table-waiting skills [and perhaps find a future career… or at least a way to support their hobbies], enthusiastic and merely willing cooks who prepare the meal, math whizzes who compile the auction results in no time at all–and then the folks who come for fellowship and good food and bid their way to taking home their favorite items.
Thank you to everyone who participated.
