Bluegrass comes ”˜a Hollering’ @ Hope Church:
Holler: “a shout, a loud cry; the place between the mountains and valleys; or holler is traditional country, Appalachian song.” Mark your calendars for a special musical event as Hope Church welcomes Holler to a performance of its unique brand of bluegrass, traditional and gospel music! Holler has a special connection to Hope Church as it is based out of the Greenpoint Church in Brooklyn, NY, the location of the High Hopes Youth Mission Trip this year as well as in past years.
Holler, an acoustic duo with strong influences from the Carter family and mountain music traditions writes and performs original songs that echo the long-time traditions of Appalachian folk music. Formed in December of 2009 in Brooklyn, NY, Rachael Benjamin plays auto harp and guitar and hails from rural, eastern Kentucky. Beth Price, a native of western New York, plays upright bass. Holler has performed in New York City, New England and the southern states. This summer, Holler will be traveling the mid-west and south east to promote their self-titled debut album and HOPE CHURCH is blessed to be one of the venues! You can find out more about Holler and listen to a couple of their songs at http://www.myspace.com/hollerinbrooklyn. A freewill offering will be received. So put 7 p.m. on August 24 on your calendar and ”˜give a holler’ to friends, family and neighbors and bring them along for a special night of musical entertainment.
