Compassionate Connection presents
Voluntary Simplicity
a discussion course from the Northwest Earth Institute
The ability to simplify means to eliminate the unnecessary so that the necessary may speak.
–Hans Hoffman
Tired of the rush? More not doing the trick? Maybe it’s time to slow down and simplify.
What truly makes you happy? How do you spend most of your time, energy, money? Do your patterns of consumption match up with what you care about most?
When do overflowing calendars, possessions and technologies add meaning to our lives and when do they detract? How can we live in greater harmony with our values and the world around us?
This fall, give yourself an opportunity to reconnect and get back to basics. Join others in regaining a sense of proportion and sufficiency, cultivating a life of contentedness and gratitude. In a relaxed and restful environment, Voluntary Simplicity allows you to explore how to live more at ease, free from:
- fidgety boredom
- stress and pressure
- unconscious consuming and attachment
- a drive to possess or control
What would it be like to gradually release the things, attitudes and commitments that distract us from our essential values? Download course flier

Please pass this information along to friends in the Saugatuck/Holland area! I’m offering voluntary simplicity as a group course this fall because I’m hoping to keep growing into someone who lives a life of intentionality, peace and balance. I’ll be present as facilitator and eager participant, joining others who long for more streamlined, graceful living. -Randy Smit
