We hope you’ve noticed the community garden on Hope Church’s property, between the church building and the day-care playground. Washington School Neighbors began the project as a place where neighbors can come together and cross paths with others in the neighborhood. We’ve hosted a variety of events there, from potluck dinners to children’s reading and play groups.
Our neighbors across 10th Street, First United Methodist Church, have joined the Washington School Neighbors effort, making space available for additional raised beds. We invite you to take a stroll around the neighborhood and see what’s growing!
There are herbs you’re welcome to snip to accent your cooking in the southside garden; just look for the sign explaining what’s available. And if you live nearby and have an itch to grow some of your own vegetables or flowers, contact the Washington School Neighbors garden guru, Gary, to see if there are still beds available for adoption.
