We are trying something new! Several people have shown interest in meeting regularly to work on crafts together and enjoy conversation and mutual support. We hope to meet twice a month, alternating between Friday evenings and Thursday afternoons. We’ll meet in the Youth Room at Hope Church on these dates:
  • Friday, May 2, 6:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, May 15, 1:30 p.m.
  • Friday, June 6, 6:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, June 19, 1:30 p .m.
  • Friday, July 11, 6:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, July 24, 1:30 p.m.

These sessions will resemble old-fashioned quilting bees. A “bee” was a common term used throughout the US and Canada to describe work sessions and social events or parties that helped build community life. Important discussions and debates often took place at these “bees,” and they were ways to stay connected and work toward common goals—from assembling a quilt to supporting women’s rights.

Each person will bring their own project—sewing, knitting, crocheting, scrapbooking, origami, drawing, painting, coloring, calligraphy, whatever strikes your fancy. There will be tables and extension cords, and there is comfortable seating for those who do not need a work surface. Coffee and tea will be available.
Dates for our craft sessions are on the church calendar and will appear in the weekly announcements, but mark your calendar now! If you have questions, talk to Lois Maassen or Judith Boogaart or use this contact form to send us a message. We look forward to crafting with you!
